Bob Gregson presents "At Every Turn"
I'm an ardent admirer of everything Gregson. I first met him in the 70s. I was teaching classes at Trinity College and he was producing a lovely, funny, engaging public event he called "Thursday is a Work of Art." The giant chair (right) was one of his more emblematic, engaging, and playful installations. Another of my favorites was a row of chairs, strategically placed along a well-traveled alley, occupied by a random assortment of people, who would applaud you as you passed by. There were always a few empty chairs for those who chose to join the "audience."Gregson explains: "I am excited when a resonance begins to intensify between my work and people. It is at that special moment - when all the ingredients come together - the work comes alive and exists at its best."
If you're going to be in New Haven this weekend, consider visiting Gregson's studio and "come alive" along with his wonderfully playful work.
