Your basic Stretchin Squid Yo Yo is essentially one of those somewhat sticky stretchy multi-tentacled things with a handle. The handle, which is similarly stretchy, invites a kind of yo-yo-like up-and-downing whilst obviating the need for yo-yo-like skills.
You can, should you be so moved, put your finger through the ring and, making your hand into a paddle-shape, paddle the thing. Which is of course amusing. You can also challenge yourself, when the need arises, and attempt to paddle your Stretchin Squid upwards.
When more meditative movement is indicated, you can simply swing your squid – though you’ll soon find yourself sorely tempted to swing your squid in a widening gyre, so to speak, which will inevitably result in your smashing your squid into something or -one. Which, considering the softness of the squishiness of it all, is relatively harmless, and can easily be construed as an invitation to mutual squid smashing, which can get violent, but in a squishy way.
Here we have yet another example of a fully-functional meeting toy. It lends itself to a variety of uses which can easily augment, or circumvent the varying moods of the extended meeting. It invites contemplative, solitaire play, collaborative social play, and competitive squid paddling, squid spinning, squid putting and squid hurling engagements.
Another invitation to playfulness from available from Office Playground.
