The Grocery Store Dancing Micro Movement

by Bernie DeKoven on December 1, 2011

Kelly Cheatle, whom I met through Airigami, sent me the following cryptic tweet: “I dont see any @Wegmans dance clips! MT@kitchenwitch: This is so darn cute!http://t.co/9rva9nZ4

Clicking upon said cuteness, I found myself on the site of Katie West of The Levity Institute, who, it just so happens, is someone I most joyously met at a Laughter Yoga conference.

And here, therefore and hence, a very silly-inspiring clip of the “Grocery Store Dancing Micro Movement” which I will let speak for itself.

“Live like the party you’ve always wanted.”

Lovely. Just lovely.

Dancing is, as Dr. Kataria says, one of the four elements of joy. The other three are singing, laughing, and playing of course. Things children do without being taught. Things adults have forgotten how to do.

I used to work in retail, and while seeing the customers dance to the music was rare, I quite regularly danced. I used to do laminating, which is essentially waiting for a piece of paper to go slowwwwly through a maching and then putting another one in. So while waiting, I would dance. My co-workers would look over in my direction and say among themselves, “looks like Lily’s laminating again”. Fun, fun, fun.

Love and laughter,
Lily
