Body Music

by Bernie DeKoven on June 7, 2012

Yesterday’s post was about hand games. Today we look at the next step, so to speak. You can call it body percussion or body drumming. The folk who run the International Body Music Festival call it “body music.”

This freeing, playful art form has adherents all around the world, all of whom seem to be having something most genuinely like fun making weird, syncopated sounds, while hitting themselves.

It’s a beautiful thing. It’s accessible, available to anyone, no instruments required, just a good sense of rhythm, a deep faith in play, and a lot of practice.

Awesome. My favorite is the one with the white tees and blue jeans. Must have taken a lot of practice.

Love and laughter,
Lily
