For fun, Natalie Kinsey and Lori Kane and I decided to see what would happen if we tried to do a Google Hangout together.
So, there we were, Lori in Seattle, Natalie in Cumberland, Maine; and me, in Indianapolis. It was the first time I had actually seen Lori, the second time for Natalie. Both of us have been corresponding via Facebook, celebrating each other, our lives, our work, our passion, drawn to each other by our shared belief in things like fun and play and community; growing remarkably closer.
And here’s the Hangout. It’s about an hour, where we travel the spectrum from profundity to absurdity, and manage to connect them into some higher order of shared truth, deep play, and something very close to love.
As for the Pinky ball – that bounces in to our conversation at around 44:09. Most exemplary, in deed.

Hiho…silver, AND AWAY! I love that we get to play together, so loosely, frivolously and importantly. Also, want to invite any willing and open-hearted players to email you or me to join our Tuesday playdates, @ 12:30 EST, where the entrance into the shared play is that you come with one idea of a game we might play together, and that you come ready to play, and delight, together…
We’re using Hangouts on Google Plus. If you use Gmail registering for G+ is a snap. Do it!
That was fun! I’ve been thinking about how i love to be loved ever since and watching how everyone i know chooses to share their love with each. I also love how my own memory is changing itself and how you two are becoming friends I’ve known for years, decades even. That big hopscotch thing that Bernie was part of in 1976? I prety sure that my 6-year-old self was there.
Your hallway bowling alley, with people standing around taking pictures, etc… and not joining in, but enjoying the moment, reminded me a little of a flash mob. How much fun would it be to have play flash mobs? No special talent required, just a little time to play for a few minutes.
Love and laughter,
Lily
PS: I’m putting these hangouts in my google calendar, but it will be a couple weeks before I’m able to really get into it. Hope they get really popular for you in the meantime.
