Why we laugh, according to the Oaqui*I/we am/re not sure exactly why the Oaqui created laughter because at the time we/I was/ere having too much fun to think about it. But I/we do know that it had something to do with remembering what everything was really all about: a reminder of something very important to be reminded about. That's for sure. However, we/I do have some excellent theories. For example, it is likely that the sound people make when they laugh is a genetic memory of the actual sound of the Big Banging: reminding them thereby of the infinite humor of it all when it was all for fun. We/I also believe that the real reason I/we invented laughter could very well have been to remind humanity as a whole of something. Then there's theory that laughter is the sound of the energy that is released when the not-yet-fun becomes fun again: a quantum releasing of fun to yet another level that is more fun than that. It also could very well be the sound of the soul applauding, of the whole body clapping, returning to a state of primal health, resonating with universal glee. Then it occurs to me/us that I/we might have very cleverly created laughter so that we/I could leave humanity with a spiritual Heimlich Maneuver: whenever the spirit gets blocked by the not-yet-fun, a little laughter is all it takes to resuscitate the soul. In sum, I/we don't exactly know why, or when or actually if we created laughter or even what laughter is for. In the beginning it was fun. In the end, it was all for fun. And in between is where it tickles most.
from: Chris Newham There are a lot of funtons out there which, from time to time get stimulated to occupy a higher energy level only to decay with the emission of a giggle or guffaw. This emission usually excites one or more adjacent funtons to higher new energy level. There is a whole spectrum of observable funton energy in this universe and, in a parallel universe that we visit from time to time, we discover negative funtons. The higher the energy of either a positive or negative funton, the harder it is to precisely locate and that is why people who are deeply into finding either tend to disappear. But there is also an intermediate space where positive and negative funtons collide and annihilate each other. The Oaqui challenge, as dedicated funicists, is to develop a balanced capacity to excite and be excited, to observe and be observed, and avoid this middle ground without getting lost. Chris |
