Bernie De Koven's Meditation Games
Bernie De Koven explains: It's a "sign of the times." We've become too busy, we have too much to do, we have no time for anything remotely connected to "fun." Bernie De Koven's Meditation Games are brief, focused, playful, spiritual exercises that restore balance, energy, perspective, clarity, priorities, mindfulness, and the senses of connectedness, wonder and fun. You can learn most of Bernie De Koven's
Meditation Games in five minutes. You can spend the rest of your life
playing them. Because they're fun. And deep. Which is why this site
is called "DeepFUN."
In the mean time try evoking The Frog of Enlightenupment." It's yet another kind of Bernie's Meditation Game. It begins with you making a frog out of your fingers, thusly. In a way, it's like a Mudra - a finger-entwining puzzle of great meditationworthy complexity. In another way, it's very silly. The meditation continues as you explore the art of "Silent Puppetry" learning to let your frog "Speak Your Mind," silently mouthing whatever words or thoughts or song or operatic chorus you want, in whatever accent or voice or instrument you can imagine. Try it with Bernie's voice. Try it with Silly and Serious. Try it with your own. Alan Watts says meditation is "supposed to be fun" - and I quote: "What we call meditation or contemplation -- for want of a better word -- is really supposed to be fun. I have some difficulty in conveying this idea because most people take anything to do with religion seriously -- and you must understand that I am not a serious person. I may be sincere, but never serious, because I don't think the universe is serious." |
