The Thirteenth Tradition - creating the FUN Community*

There is a thirteenth tradition - one that revisits all twelve traditions and brings to them the spirit of FUN. Because if we can't make our lives fun again, we will never truly recover life.

1. Our common fun should come first; personal fun depends upon everybody's fun.

2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority — the sense of fun as it may express itself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted rule-givers; they do not rule.

3. The only requirement for membership in a FUN community is a desire to have fun, deeply.

4. Each FUN community should be autonomous except in matters affecting other communities or DeepFUN as a whole.

5. Each FUN community has but one primary purpose—to bring FUN to its members.

6. A FUN community ought never endorse, finance or lend the FUN name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.

7. Every FUN community ought to be fully self-supporting, but should never be so silly as to refuse a gift.

8. FUN communities should remain forever nonprofessional, but our play centers may employ gifted players.

9. FUN, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create special events or parties even as long as they are fun for all those they involve.

10. The FUN community has no opinion on outside issues; hence the name of FUN ought never be drawn into public controversy unless it makes it more fun for everyone.

11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal playfulness at the level of press, radio and films.

12. FUN is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place playfulness before personalities.
